Performs work maintaining and repairing park grounds and building maintenance repair assignments. Cleans buildings and offices; dusts furniture, vacuums carpets, and empties garbage cans; sweeps and mops floors; strips and waxes floors; cleans restrooms; picks up litter and debris; mows and maintains athletic fields, cemeteries, golf course greens, fairways, roughs, and playgrounds; sows grass; trims hedges and weeds; prepares athletic fields for play; marks lines on playing fields; reshapes mounds; resets bases; performs general field maintenance duties; rakes sand traps, fertilizes greens and fairways, pulls out golf carts, and fills water coolers; paints; helps set up facilities for meetings and special events; operates a variety of equipment including aerator, reel gang mower, fertilizer spreader, rotary mower, and hand tools; performs light maintenance of tractors and equipment; checks and changes oil, water, and fluid levels; changes filters; and checks and inspects facilities, grounds, and equipment for necessary repairs.

Hours: Varied hours. Will be required to work outside of normal working hours for events in stand-by, on-call or other emergency situations.

To Compete in the Selection Process: Minimal experience in general building and grounds maintenance. Must have a general knowledge of the tools, materials, and equipment used in general construction, turf grass, horticulture, and maintenance work; safety precautions; ability to perform labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions, read maps and take measurements; ability to operate mowers, tractors, and related machinery and equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, vendors, and the general public.
