  • Preparing and maintaining fiscal records, such as general ledger, capital assets and capital projects; entering and verifying data; processing budget and other financial accounts;providing backup support to payroll; maintaining records and files; preparing reports.
  • Assists with maintaining capital asset records and annual capital asset inventory.
  • Reconciles annual physical inventories for fleet maintenance, golf and warehouse.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports (including those submitted to state and federal agencies); prepares necessary deposits; maintains records and files.
  • Creates, distributes and files W-2’s with appropriate agencies.
  • Creates, distributes and files Affordable Care Act Reporting forms with appropriate agencies.
  • Maintains records and reporting for drug forfeiture funds.
  • Maintains accurate golf financial records.
  • Manages unclaimed property reporting to the State.
  • Reconciles general ledger and bank accounts; prepares routine journal entries.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations for various general ledger accounts and agrees amounts to the applicable subsidiary reports.
  • Assists with Workers’ Compensation audit.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries from City staff.
  • Serves as back-up for payroll, banking activities for the department and general billing.
  • Assists with the annual audit; prepares reports for auditors; assists with year-end closing tasks.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and budgeting as applied to municipal government; thorough knowledge of federal and state financial reporting guidelines; thorough knowledge in preparing complex financial reports and related documents; thorough knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software; thorough knowledge in the use of standard accounting software; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Special Requirements

Minimum Training & Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, or related field and moderate experience in accounting and payroll. Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
