City of San Marino is Hiring a Recreation Specialist (Part-Time) Near San Marino, CA

A city of 3.75 square miles, San Marino is home to the renowned Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens. With a focus on resident services and community, the City of San Marino is recognized for its police and fire services, library, parks and community amenities, and planning and zoning that distinguish and maintain the community’s high-quality residential character. The City of San Marino is hiring five part-time Recreation Specialists to work in our Community Services Department. The Community Services Department is responsible for enriching the community through creative recreational programs, services and events, as well as the promotion of reading and learning activities through the Crowell Public Library.GENERAL PURPOSEUnder supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Specialist oversees recreation programs; recreation budget and promotes and implements a variety of youth-based programs and City-wide special events. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThis position is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, with most programs occurring in the morning or afternoon hours and some weekend hours depending on special event programming.

Duties: Promotes and implements a variety of youth based programs and City-wide special events; supervises and schedules personnel for specific program activities or special events.Develops, plans, and organizes specific program activities or special events; explains and enforces personnel and facility regulations, policies, and procedures.Responds to inquiries, complaints, or requests for information and service from interested community groups and citizens; establish and maintain a team approach with co-workers and provide assistance to other employees in the performance of related tasks. Performs related duties as assigned.
