About The PositionYOUR FUTURE BEGINS HERE!The City of San Luis Arizona is looking for Recreation Assistant for the summer season of 2024!!
Applicants must be able to work from June, 3 2024 to August 30, 2024
As The Recreation Inter, You Will
  • Provide assistance to recreation coordinators with special events, sports leagues, tournaments, and recreation programs. Duties will vary depending on the Division of Parks & Recreation (P&R) the incumbent is assigned to. Programs and special events occur throughout the year and work schedule may vary depending on program need including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Depending On The Division, Duties May Include
  • Assists with programming the various elements of special events, activities, leagues, and special event set up and tear down.
  • Provide front-line customer service on the phone, walk-ins for facility reservations and information and to event participants during events.
  • Assists with instruction of recreation programs, classes, activities, and events, which may be made up of small and large groups of participants.
  • Opening and closing of city facilities according to schedule and special events to include weekends.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations and monitor the security of all facilities.
  • Training volunteers related to events programs and activities.
  • Oversee the daily maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in creating flyers, schedules, forms, and certificates.
  • Update files, binders, and faxing information to businesses, organizations, and schools.
  • May assist with the preparation of sports fields.
  • May assist with cleaning facilities if needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Possess Knowledge OfSoftware applications such as MS Office Suite of Programs including Excel Spreadsheets
  • General calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages
Has the ability to:
  • Work independently or collaboratively
  • Communicate effectively with diverse populations, including large groups of people.
  • Follow recreation policies and procedures when working with citizens or event participants.
  • Follow the direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, volunteers or temporary employees as the event or program requires.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
  • Work varying schedules to include evenings, weekends and holidays as special events require.
RequiredMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
  • Must pass physical test.
Education, Training and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience as Recreation Assistant or similar, or customer service experience.
  • First Aid certification (preferred).
  • CPR certification (preferred).
  • Fingerprint clearance card (prior beginning of the employment or after 15 days of hired)
Priority is given to candidates who already hold these certifications.
Desired
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Residency within 25 miles of San Luis and within the US required; San Luis residency is preferred.
Part-Time position not eligible for benefits.
