City of San Diego is Hiring a Program Coordinator - SAP EAM Functional Support - Department of IT - U2418 (Unclassified) Near San Diego, CA

Under the leadership of the Mayor and the general direction of the Chief Information Officer, the SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Functional support person will report to the ERP EAM Functional Manager. The SAP Program Coordinator is responsible for: managing multiple functional and technical projects within their responsible SAP module(s); producing detailed project time lines and ensuring project participants' accountability to those timelines; communicating effectively with technical, basis, and security teams to ensure deadlines are met; working with City business process owners to determine when or if enhancements, design changes, or break fixes are needed; following the SAP change management process and documentation requirements; prioritizing work based on business requirements, statutory requirements, and future business priorities; managing customer and stakeholder relationships at a project level through planning, coordinating, and management; ensure appropriate user training, operations, and technical documentation is developed and maintained for all configurations of the SAP systems; and ensuring all development activities are in compliance with the City's IT standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Providing EAM functional support which includes, but is not limited to, configuration, gathering requirements, designing, testing, documenting, reviewing, integrating, and managing multiple EAM enhancements/break fixes concurrently.
  • Troubleshooting and providing resolutions to the City’s end users who need assistance with the EAM modules.
  • Working with City business process owners to determine if enhancements, design changes, or break fixes are needed and training the City’s SAP business team users on new SAP EAM functionality and features.
  • Providing functional support for the Asset Management Planning modules (Asset Decision Support and Asset Investment Planning).
  • Responsible for functional support of the SAP EAM and Asset Investment Optimization solution within the City of San Diego.
  • Responsible for supporting the integration between SAP ECC ISPS and SAP ISU, Master Data Governance, GEO.e, PO, Mobility Solutions, and other integrated systems.
  • Liaison between the business, functional, technical, and security staff.
  • Review and evaluate existing and proposed systems, solutions, and business processes and devises or modifies processes and procedures for solving business problems by providing recommendations for process and technology solution improvements. 
  • Work with business process coordinators to translate business requirements into efficient system design.
  • Responsible for managing the change control process for their projects/tasks through interaction with SAP Security, Basis, Reporting, and Development teams.
  • Troubleshoot complex integrated issues and is able to resolve issues within time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ensure the integration of the SAP EAM system with other department technologies and systems.
  • Represent the department in a variety of activities; liaison with various organizations and agencies for the continued development of SAP EAM; leads team on multiple integrated and complex projects; and participates in tactical and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitates interactive analyses and design sessions with key business personnel, technical personnel, and internal/external customers.
  • Define scope, requirements, and specifications for new developments, modifications, and enhancements to meet changing business requirements.
  • Design reports and/or dashboards to provide better visibility into key business processes.
  • Develop tests for SAP EAM modules, components, and sub-components, performing post-implementation analysis throughout system landscape to ensure accuracy in areas affected by system development.
  • Assist customers with updating or creating training plans and materials for areas of responsibility.
  • Establish/manage project plans and keeps supervisor informed of project status throughout lifecycle.
  • Analyze new hardware and software updates and products certified by SAP and other solution vendors.
  • Provide support to one or more functional areas, components, and/or sub-components of SAP EAM related modules as needed.
  • Continuously maintain professional skills through training classes, continuing classroom or online education, cross-training or other method of knowledge development.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and technical advancements in the areas of SAP EAM and other SAP modules, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology.
  • Anticipate conditions, future planning, establish priorities, and meet project schedules.
  • Prepare effective written and oral communications, reports, documentation, instructions, and presentations.
  • Utilize Excel and Macros for analysis. 
  • Carry out additional duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience providing day-to-day functional support in the SAP EAM modules including requirements gathering, design, configuration, implementation, project management, reviewing and evaluating existing and proposed business process and making recommendations for improvements, writing design/functional specifications, troubleshooting and problem resolution, and providing functional and technical assistance to others. OR,
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates these qualifications may be qualifying.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of all functional aspects of SAP EAM including ECC and the sub-modules of SAP EAM (Plant Maintenance, Mobility Solutions, Master Data Governance, etc.). 
  • Strong understanding of Asset Management Planning methodologies and practices.
  • Able to troubleshoot end user issues with SAP EAM and assist user(s) either verbally over the phone or in writing and creating and updating FAQ documents and other frequently occurring issue troubleshooting and solution documents.
  • Ability to coordinate with other module SAP functional team members for integration requirements for system enhancements, new projects, system break fixes and end user help desk tickets.
  • Ability to provide detailed recommendations for SAP EAM system configuration or functionality.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, using initiative to accomplish results, while balancing competing priorities with both internally and externally imposed deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and use critical thinking skills to accomplish project goals, complete assignments with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to present complex technical information in a simple, clear, and concise manner.
  • Strong business and political acumen to work effectively with the public, external agencies and businesses, and elected officials.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Works effectively in a support team-oriented environment to promote knowledge transfer in areas driven by system integration.
  • Strong Excel and Macros skills.
