Essential Job Functions
small, large, and heavy equipment.* Repairs automobiles, light and heavy trucks, gasoline engines, and
other automotive equipment, and may require frequently lifting / carrying
up to 25 pounds.* Installs and repairs batteries, lights, alternators, regulators, and
starters.* Adjusts and repairs clutches and brakes and replaces shocks, struts,
and springs.* Operates engine test equipment, air wrenches, and hand tools,
operating basic mechanic tools and equipment.* Performs repairs on electrical heating and cooling systems.* Test drives automobiles, trucks, and equipment.
Replaces broken or defective windows on cars and trucks.* Makes road calls to repair problems.* Utilizes proper safety precautions and procedures related to work
performed.* Prepares vehicles for State inspection.* Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted.
