SANITATION WORKER I
Public Works/Sanitation Department

Duties: Performs heavy manual labor in the collection of solid waste; loads sanitation and/or recycling trucks; dumps refuse, recycling carts & containers; unloads recyclables from vehicles; removes debris & trash from alleys & streets; maintains landfill sites; services trucks & equipment as required; repairs refuse carts; prepares minimal records of own activities; performs overtime as required & performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience: Some experience in manual labor.
Requirements: Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions; must be able to perform heavy manual labor & run designated routes; must be eighteen (18) years of age or older; must possess valid Kansas driver’s license.
Work Type: Heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Machines, Tools, Equipment: Sanitation packer truck, lifts, shovels, rakes, brooms & power washer.
Hours: Monday – Friday; shift begins at 7:00 a.m.
Starting Pay: $17.21-18.07/hr. DOQ EOE
