Public Service Aides (PSA’s) are civilian employees who want to become Romulus Police Officers through a sponsorship in the police academy. PSA’s are provisional employees who may work (full or part-time) on different shifts to assist the Department with operations and officers in their daily duties.
The PSA position brings potential police officer candidates onboard and gives them an opportunity to gain valuable experience in policing before being sponsored in the police academy.
New PSA’s will go on police ride-alongs and receive training in a variety of police related technologies. Once established, they will perform a range of tasks including working the police front desk, assisting officers with processing and booking prisoners, interacting with PD visitors, conducting routine preliminary investigations for front-desk reports and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
