City of Rochester, NY is Hiring a Manager of Violence Prevention Near Rochester, NY

General Description

The Manager of the Office of Violence Prevention will oversee the following five initiatives Peacemaker Fellowship, Pathways to Peace, Reentry, Peace Collective and the Office of Neighborhood Safety to ensure their proper functioning and that they are meeting both regulatory requirements and the needs of the community. This position includes supervision of a team of part-time and full-time employees, with a number of direct reports. The Manager will also be responsible for obtaining new funding opportunities to support these initiatives as well as maintain relationships with outside organizations that work with the programs that the Office of Violence Prevention offers. Related work is performed as required.


CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.

Typical Work Activities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate new violence prevention programs;
  • Oversee youth violence and gang intervention and outreach initiatives;
  • Manage the development and spending of the Office of Violence Prevention budget;
  • Find and manage the applications for outside public or private funding to support new and current violence prevention efforts;
  • Coordinate grant-related assessments, goal setting, work plan development, implementation, and evaluation efforts;
  • Lead a team of multi-disciplinary community violence prevention professionals;
  • Assess staff development needs and coordinate training as needed;
  • Administratively oversee and monitor community-based organizations and other partners for contractual compliance;
  • Learn and follow City of Rochester purchasing, payroll, human resources, and professional services agreements processes and procedures;
  • Prepare program key performance indicators and goals and ensure programs are on track to meet or exceed them;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a broad range of community stakeholders, including area hospitals, not-for-profit organizations, City Council, and community leaders in an effort to support violence prevention and intervention;
  • Be responsive to the needs of community stakeholders and adjust programming as community needs change;
  • Be on-call to support late night staff activities;
  • Provide all services in an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive manner;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field AND two (2) years full-time experience in developing, administering, evaluating/analyzing community engagement and outreachprogramsAND two (2) years of experience supervising staff;

OR
Bachelor’s degree in in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services,Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related fieldAND 4 (four) years of experience developing, administering, evaluating/analyzing community engagement and outreach programs ANDtwo (2)years of experience supervising staff;
OR
Associate’s degree in in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field AND6 (six) years of experience developing, administering, evaluating/analyzing community engagement and outreachprogramsAND two (2) years of experience supervising staff;
OR
High school diploma or GED inAND 8 (eight) years of experience developing, administering, evaluating/analyzing community engagement and outreach programs ANDtwo (2) years of experience supervising staff.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
:
New York State Class D Driver's License at time of appointment. This licensure must be maintained throughout employment in this job.
