The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities Water Distribution is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Construction Inspector, Principal position. The selected candidate will be responsible for assignment of work, compliance with daily reporting, and project closeout completion by the team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of installation of water mains, structures and service; City's GIS system in reference to reading water maps; and testing procedures for sanitary sewer and stormwater mains/services per DPU standards and specifications. Knowledge of applicable local agency standards to ensure compliance with standards, construction guidelines and specifications (e.g. DPU Design and Construction Standards, OSHA, VDOT traffic control and Utility Designation Colors) and computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated skill reading PDF documents and reading comprehension; managing construction site (e.g. Tracking deliveries, contractor and citizen safety measures, tracking equipment and personnel on site); and effective oral and written communication.
Demonstrated ability to fill out appropriate City forms; conduct pre-construction meetings with local jurisdictions before construction; to learn new information and interact with technical and non-technical audiences.
