Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, responsible for teaching tennis skills to youth ages 4 and older through instructional programs. 

HOURS

16 hours per week. 

Summer Season: 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, June 10-August 23, Monday-Thursday. Must be available on Fridays for rain make-ups. No session June 19, July 1-4, July 29-August 1.

This is a seasonal position and is therefore temporary in nature. Position ends at the end of the season. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Leads and oversees all youth tennis lessons and ensures a safe, friendly and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants.
• Establishes clear objectives for all lessons and communicates the objectives to participants; plans and instructs lessons through discussions, demonstrations and class participation.
• Observes and evaluates participant’s performance and lesson structure to ensure development and satisfaction of participants.
• Helps Recreation Supervisor to make weather related decisions.
• Cares for and maintains equipment, materials and facilities. This may include cleaning courts prior to lessons.
• Ensures safety precautions are taken at all times.
• Performs light maintenance duties as assigned, including but not limited to picking up litter around the courts or grounds.
• Communicate with parents, program staff and supervisors about the program and participant progress.
• Develops and maintains professional relationships with staff, supervisors and program participants and their family members.
• Coordinates efforts to ensure Richfield is an equitable, inclusive and respectful organization and supports the City’s mission, vision and core values.
• Completes all other duties assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have at least 5 years of tennis experience, either as a player or an instructor.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
