The City of Redwood City invites applications for the following current vacancies.

MANAGEMENT ANALYST I / II

Redwood City Police Department - 1 Full-Time Vacancy –

This position will be responsible for supporting the Chief of Police and Command Staff within the Police Department. The incumbent will be responsible for working on projects and assignments related to managing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, financials, department budget, data analysis, presentations, staff reports, proofreading and analytical tasks, along with general administrative work and management of confidential and sensitive law enforcement and personnel files. The Police Department offers a 9/80 flex schedule option, and the position is required to regularly work onsite at the Police Department Building; however, limited flexibility to work remotely may be provided at the Police Chief's discretion, as needed.

Administrative Services Department (ASD) (supporting Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology) - 1 Full-Time Vacancy -

This position will be responsible for providing professional, technical, administrative, and analytical assistance in conducting a variety of comprehensive budget analysis, including presentations, staff reports, data analysis, and related tasks. In addition to providing support in the preparation and development of the budget for ASD and HR, the incumbent will support contract administration, monitor and maintain contracts within ASD and HR as well as coordinate with other departments to ensure contract compliance. Along with general administrative work. (department can change/add more specifics on job responsibilities)

The successful applicants will provide highly responsible analytical, technical, and professional staff support. The selected candidate will strive to maintain high quality service to internal and external customers and will recommend and assist in the implementation of new procedures and technologies to ensure continuous improvement and efficiencies for the department assigned as well as other divisions and departments.Hybrid schedule available 3 days in office and 2 days working remotely.

Management Analyst I: This is the entry-level class in the professional Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the journey by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties as assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or not directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Management Analyst II: This is the journey level class within the professional Management Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the entry level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry.

  • This position is a flexibly staffed position. At the discretion of the Department Director or Police Chief, positions may be filled at the level of Management Analyst I or Management Analyst II based upon the level of skill and experience required by the department.

The ideal candidate will be flexible and adapt well to change. They will have the ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles; take risks and admit mistakes; and work with purpose and a sense of humor. They will also have strong analytical abilities and strong proficiency with computer-based accounting systems, databases, and desktop software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
