ABOUT OUR JOB

The Solid Waste Operator I or II primarily operates in the areas of the Solid Waste Material Recovery Facility (MRF) but can be utilized in the Landfill, and / or Collections as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Solid Waste Operator I :

• Operates solid waste equipment such as skid steer, and forklift.
• Must perform duties to standard operations and safety defined by each appropriate equipment manufacturer and industry standards;

reads and interprets appropriate instructions and / or plans.

• Performs hands-on sorting of recyclable material.
• Performs essential maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• May perform snow removal / sanding operations.
• May perform duties outside of the MRF department as needed.

Solid Waste Operator II :

• Perform hands-on sorting of recyclable material.

Assures all operations are in compliance with all regulatory permit requirements and regulations.

Solid Waste Operator I :

• Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED) and
• One year of related experience and / or training.
• Must possess a valid driver's license

Solid Waste Operator II :

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and
• Two years of related experience and / or training.
• Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered.
