Position Details

The Ice Skating instructor conducts ice skating lessons for individuals or groups of children and adults.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts skating lessons to groups and individual children and adults.
• Monitors and records student progress to determine proper class placement.
• Enforces rink safety regulations and department policies and procedures to prevent accidents and maintain order.
• Responds to emergency situations and assist skaters in distress utilizing established rescue techniques up to and including AED and/or CPR.
• Administers first aid to injuries suffered by skaters following the appropriate safety protocols.
• Will enforce evacuation procedures if necessary due to medical or weather emergencies on the ice.
• Keep patrons and students informed of rink rules and regulations.
• Respond to emergency situations and assist skaters in distress using established rescue techniques.
• May perform custodial services to maintain a clean and orderly facility.

Minimum Qualifications

• 
  Age:Must be 14 years or older
• Education/Experience:Must have ice skating experience. Previous teaching or instruction experience preferred.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR or First Aide certification preferred, training may be available.
• Physical Demands: Must have the ability to stand and/or skate for long periods. An employee will frequently be required to skate, bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs, use hand and finger dexterity, use eye-to-hand coordination, and lift. An employee will occasionally be required to balance, run, push, pull, and crawl.
• Work Environment: This position will work primarily indoors and on the ice rink. Will frequently be exposed to low temperatures. The noise level is generally moderate to loud.
