City of Rapid City is Hiring a Cemetery Laborer Near Rapid, SD

The Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for beautifying, operating, and maintaining park and recreation assets (parks, trails, and recreation facilities) as well as implementing year-round recreation programs for all ages. The Department is also responsible for park maintenance and the City's urban forest. It is the mission of the Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department to make Rapid City a better place to live, work, and play.Summary
This position assists the Cemetery Maintenance crew in the upkeep of Mtn. View – Mt. Calvary Cemeteries.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Requires ability to operate hand tools and other power equipment.
  • May remove snow from walkways.
  • Operate power equipment to trim grass, shrubbery, and trees, as well as edge sidewalks and around monuments.
  • Operate mowing equipment both walk-behind and riding mowers.
  • Move materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Transplant trees, shrubs, and flowers. 
  • Perform minor maintenance to mowing equipment, buildings, and structures.
  • Other duties may be assigned 
Minimum QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Age Requirement: Must be age 18 or older. 
Education and/or Experience:
Must have a minimum of basic knowledge or skills in the areas listed.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess a valid driver’s license. 
Physical Demands: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.Hours will vary between 24 to 40 per week. Scheduling depends on the time of year and weather conditions.
