ABOUT OUR JOB

The Solid Waste Operator II primarily operates in the Landfill but can be utilized in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and / or Collections as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Solid Waste Operator II :

• Operates solid waste equipment such as front-end loader, forklift skid steer, roll-off truck, and / or yard waste processing equipment such as yard waste turner and compost sampling.
• Must perform duties to standard operations and safety defined by each appropriate equipment manufacturer and industry standards;

reads and interprets appropriate instruction and / or construction plans.

• Performs basic maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Snow removal / sanding operations.
• Operates motor grader, scraper, semi-truck tractor, yard waste grinder, dozer, front-end loader, hydro seeder, and other landfill equipment as needed.
• When working in operations requiring grading and excavation, shall be capable of constructing to final grade.
• Assures all operations comply with all regulatory permit requirements and regulations.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years related experience and / or training.
• Must possess a valid South Dakota Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered.
