City of Raleigh is Hiring a Special Events and Refuse Equipment Operator (part-time) Near Park, NC

Job Description

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department (PRCR) mission is "Together we connect and enrich our community through exceptional experiences." The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is seeking candidates that align with the City's values, is team-oriented with a passion and vision for parks and serving the community. The successful candidate will communicate well, be reliable, safety conscious, and possess a strong work ethic.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position provides event logistics and refuse recycling support to various events and programs offered by City Departments including:

  • Delivery, set up, litter removal and take down of event logistics equipment and supplies.
  • Load trucks with requested equipment, deliver to event site and set up according to set up plan.
  • Police grounds and empty trash during event.
  • Break down, clean up and collect equipment and return all equipment to storage facility after the event.
  • Operate City trucks up to 2,600 lb. capacity, equipment and utility vehicles.
  • Inventory event equipment.
  • Set up portable stages, tents, tables, chairs and public address systems.
  • Service trash and recycling containers.
  • Clean and make minor repairs to equipment.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Working knowledge of the equipment and tools to be used in completion of duties.

Education: High school diploma or GED

Certificates / Licenses: A Valid NC Class "C" Driver's License. Class B Commercial Driver's License preferred.

Additional Information

Schedule: This position is part time up to 999 hours per year. Work schedule is flexible based on events and programing. Regular schedule is 7:00 am-3:30 pm, June through August with frequent weekend and after 5:00 pm work to support events. This position does not work over 35 hours per week.

Additional Information: This position involves significant physical labor, including but not limited to, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, climbing, balancing, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. This position requires exposure to outside weather conditions including extreme cold or heat; noise; vibration; hazards; oils; infectious diseases and atmospheric conditions.
