Joining our Transportation Maintenance Division will provide an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the maintenance of critical infrastructure such as sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt, and storm drains.As a member of our 218 person staff, you will contribute to maintenance of 1,130 miles of streets and sidewalks; the upkeep of over 33,000 curb ramps; and the protection of 3.2 million linear feet of stormwater pipes connecting more than 32,000 drainage inlets.Within the Landscape Maintenance Unit, you will be part of a team responsible for maintaining medians and rights-of-way throughout the City by trimming trees, bushes, and grass, and planting various trees and plants each season. Additional duties include trimming and edging using small equipment, setting up work zones and lane closures, trimming trees and other vegetation to prevent encroachment, picking up litter and debris in work areas, applying mulch to plant beds, and operating specialized equipment such as a walk behind leaf machine during leaf collection and snow removal equipment to maintain streets, sidewalks, and driveways. Lastly, this role assists in cleanup and repair during inclement weather situations.
