EVENT SERVICES STAFF (FULL-TIME)

Event Services Staff – Public Assembly Facilities – Full-Time, 37.5/hours per week -

The Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department is searching for a reliable individual with strong leadership skills to be a part of the Public Assembly and Facilities team. This position will provide customer service to guests during events and will be responsible for overseeing event safety and security, guest needs, food and beverage support, or set-up and cleanup during assigned events at City of Portland facilities. These responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the event. These facilities include City Hall, Merrill Auditorium, the James A. Banks Sr. Exposition Building, Hadlock Field Stadium, Fitzpatrick Stadium, Ocean Gateway, Portland Ocean Terminal, Troubh Ice Arena and other parks and City properties. This position monitors crowd flow at events to ensure safety is maintained and actively manages emergency preparedness and response. This position enforces all relevant policies and procedures in relation to particular facilities and scheduled activities including the enforcement of City Codes, State Regulations, and Maine Liquor laws when applicable. This position performs general set up and cleaning to prepare for events and the general teardown after events. This position may assist with overseeing food and beverage sales and stock. This position will provide and may oversee on-call staff with training pertaining to safety and job duties. Excellent communication and customer service skills needed. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and event scheduling software. Prior cash handling experience needed. Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50lbs.

Necessary Special Requirements: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must possess a TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) Certification and a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Must have a valid State of Maine Class C driver’s license and must have and maintain a good driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of criminal background check.

CEBA Union position - Grade 8 - Pay rate starting at $741.75/week.
