EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie and Utility Systems Department at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.Assist in the operation and maintenance of complex advanced treatment facilities with automatic control and telemetry systems.Assist in the operation and maintenance of pumps, equipment and mechanical/automatic controls to maintain proper treatment and distribution pressures.Check treatment facilities routinely for proper operation and record daily meter readings, includes working at high altitudes. Take water samples for chemical, bacterial, chlorine and various other water quality tests. Practices safety at all times; safely works and handles corrosive chemicals frequently.Regular and punctual attendance.Assist in the preparation of daily and monthly reports, itemizing water pumped and electricity used.Maintain controls, meters and related equipment. Perform general housekeeping, including painting, pressure washing and grounds keeping. Provides manual labor functions as directed (e.g. digging holes/trenches; raking; hoeing; lifting; etc.)Input and record data with accuracy and proficiency for use in monthly reports, meter reads, charts, and operational records.Check remote pump stations, wells and interconnects.Complete all scheduled operational duties per shift.Other duties as may be assigned. THIS POSITION REQUIRES SHIFT WORK, SCHEDULED/UNSCHEDULED OVERTIME, INCLUDING EVENINGS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS AND/OR IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO EMERGENCY CONDITIONS.

The employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, uneven surfaces, heights, and stressful situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
