The starting salary range for this position is $20.82 - $23.95 depending on qualifications Advanced manual and semi-skilled work in the performance of locating utility mains and appurtenances as well as related buried electrical and communication lines. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.This position is an Essential classification and will be required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are illustrative for this position. Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.Perform locations of the City’s buried communication cable and electrical service and transference in accordance with the Florida Statutes, Chapter 556, as outlined in the Sunshine State One Call Excavation Guide Handbook.Operate necessary electronic and manual equipment needed to accomplish daily job duties associated with the locating of fiber systems and appurtenances.Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.Accurately document and photograph work performed and facilities located, including written and electronic reports as may be required.Identify any errors and/or omissions in the department’s fiber optic map and/or hard copy records and provide accurate information to correct departmental records. Prepare electronic as-built drawings, surveys, and/or computer-generated drawings of facilities located as may be required.Prepare “request for location” paperwork from Sunshine State One Call for other locator personnel as needed.Retrieve as-built information from base map on tablet computers, as needed.Other duties as may be assigned. THIS POSITION REQUIRES SCHEDULED/UNSCHEDULED OVERTIME, INCLUDING EVENINGS, WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS AND/OR IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO EMERGENCY CONDITIONS.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch, work in close, confined spaces, and work overhead on ladders and platforms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
