JOB
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Information Technology (IT) Manager, the Systems Network Analyst supports the Security, Systems, Network and Applications for all City Departments. This is a system, network and application support position that provides common problem recognition and resolution to helpdesk users. All IT positions participate in weekly team meetings to solve complex problems with innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. The Systems Network Analyst position’s primary focus is the user experience and serves as the backup role to the essential functions of the IT division as described below.
Security
Utilizes best practices and industry standards by research, education, networking and consultation.
Provides training to Users and communicates professionally and effectively to Managers.
Participates in educational opportunities to advance knowledge in city systems.
Practices the ‘least privilege principle’ for access to secure city systems, networks and applications.
Serves as Active Directory (AD) domain, user and computer administrator.
Creates and updates Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to implement user and computer policies.
Ensures Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) assessment and compliance standards are met.
Systems
Installs, configures, and prepares Servers for production network deployment.
Installs, configures, and prepares Workstations for network deployment.
Installs, configures, and prepares Mobile Devices (Laptops, Tablets, and Phones) for deployment.
Installs, configures, and prepares Printers, Plotters, Scanners and Copiers for deployment.
Administers Telecommunications System including deploying desk IP phones and land lines.
Administers the ‘Help Desk’ System, monitors and assigns tickets for resolution. Follows ITIL.
Consults Vendor and performs iSeries and subsystem maintenance tasks.
Setup, configure and administer Enterprise Backup Systems. Verifies daily backups.
Configures and Administers Server Virtualization Platform (VMWare).
Coordinates with Vendors for supported systems including network management and monitoring.
Network
Coordinates with provider for Wide Area Network (WAN) services including Data Transport and Internet.
Coordinates with network vendor for Local Area Network (LAN) services including Wireless.
Configures and administers Storage Area Network (SAN) and fiber infrastructure.
Configure and install wireless infrastructure to facilitate guest WIFI and cellular network services.
Consults network vendor to configure routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, subnets and VPN.
Configures and prepares servers for Perimeter Network (DMZ) deployment using SSL.
Configures and administers Domain Controllers, DHCP Servers and DNS Services.
Coordinates with and provides access to technicians for SCADA network and systems configuration.
Administers surveillance networks and systems in coordination with Law Enforcement records officers.
Applications
Configures and administers System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
Create, distribute, and update a software catalog for standardization and license management.
Utilizes SCCM to deploy Operating Systems (OS) and Applications including Office 365 (O365)
Utilizes SCCM to deploy updates and patches. Monitors and reports compliance.
Utilizes SCCM to deploy end point protection (anti-virus/anti-malware). Monitors and reports compliance.
Administers O365 email client accounts, provides searches for Public Records Requests.
Administers records management system with forms workflow and scanned document automation.
Performs SQL Database connections, administration and maintenance.
Supports and deploys Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications and tools
Provide conference room support of AV, presentation and teleconferencing hardware and software.
Salary:
AFSCME Range 24: $75,863.84 - $90,602.72 annually ($36.473 - $43.559 per hour)
Excellent benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage for employee and dependents, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, vacation/sick leave accrual, PERS retirement and deferred compensation plans. Employee shares 12.5% of the medical premium. Position is a member of AFSCME Local #1619.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education, experience and technical certification may be considered.
Experience:
Three (3) years of full-time progressive experience performing enterprise level Technical Support or Helpdesk duties.
Technical Certification:
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA A Technician, CompTIA Network
The Ideal Candidate will possess the following:
Knowledge of network topologies and physical layer connections
Knowledge of understanding of program structures and documentation techniques.
Knowledge of system administration practices and procedures, including the capability to troubleshoot complex financial applications and computer systems.
Knowledge of City organization, operations, policies, and objectives.
Basic understanding of accounting procedures and practices
Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a non-technical manner.
Ability to serve as administrator and project leader for applications adhering to City standards and practices.
Ability to manage the competing needs of the system users.
Ability to learn current and new selected software applications and be prepared to present professional recommendations to management.
Ability to maintain complex computer information systems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, the public, and vendors or consultants.
Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals.
Ability to maintain excellent, open, professional relationships with users through the provision of competent troubleshooting, problem solving and training. Become a much sought-after team player.
Ability to effectively work cooperatively as a member of a service-oriented team.
Ability to perform technical programming for customized internal applications within the City.
Ability to design and implement end-user computer training.
