Project Manager

City of Pikeville – Pikeville, Kentucky 41501

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing various municipal projects and performs a wide range of management functions to deliver assigned projects ensuring they’re delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulations. This role requires strong project management skills, knowledge of zoning regulations, proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and experience in preparing bid documents for various projects. 

Required Education, Certification, & Experience

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • High school diploma or equivalent including a GED certificate required
  • Bachelors in Project Management, Construction Management, or related field required or four years’ experience in project management or construction management in lieu of degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent is preferred

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to review plans and specifications related to development activities.
  • General understanding and experience with GIS systems or ability to learn system quickly
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including goals and objectives development and work planning.
  • Principles, practices, and techniques of project administration including monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of zoning regulations, land use planning, and environmental permitting processes.
  • Experience in preparing bid documents, managing procurement processes, and administering construction contracts
  • Must successfully pass all pre-employment testing including a background check and drug screen.
