The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire an Irrigation Technician to assist and support the Parks Maintenance Team. This unique individual will also work multilaterally with internal and external stakeholders to provide a safe and healthy work environment free of recognized hazards for employees and volunteers. The Irrigation Technician earns a competitive hourly salary of $20.58 to $22.27 based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN PART TIME HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

Perform a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance, operations, and repairs of the irrigation systems within the Parks and Recreation Department.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Job Description:

  • Plan, schedule and oversee daily irrigation system maintenance work.
  • Perform routine irrigation system inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and perform necessary repairs to maintain the city's irrigation systems in a proper functioning state.
  • Program and maintain irrigation systems operating schedules to coincide with weather conditions and site operational needs.
  • Support ongoing or future park projects involving irrigation through plan review and installation inspections.
  • Serves as "essential personnel" and is required to remain available for immediate call-in due to any natural or man-made disaster, or any other event the Park Superintendent, the Director of Parks and Recreation and/or City Manager deem necessary.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Requires three years irrigation or closely related experience.
  • Valid Class C driver's license.
  • Texas Commission of Environmental Quality Irrigation Technician License (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
  • Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification (preferred but not required).
  • Texas Commission of Environmental Quality Irrigators License (preferred but not required).
