City of Pasco is Hiring a Deputy Fire Chief Near Pasco, WA

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 0800 – 1700, with the expectation of being available for emergency calls as needed.

THE ROLE: 

As a Deputy Fire Chief, you will play a critical role in leading and managing Fire and EMS operations of Pasco's all hazards Fire department. The ideal candidate for this role will have 10 or more years of progressively responsible Fire and EMS experience, excellent personnel management and interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster a culture based on integrity and respect. You will collaborate with all departments across the City of Pasco as well as external stakeholders to accomplish department objectives and fulfill departmental goals. An extensive background check and standard medical physical are required upon acceptance of a conditional offer.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.):

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in public administration or a related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Incident command system training required.
  • Valid Washington State driver license or obtained within 6 months of establishing residence in Washington State.
  • IFSAC Fire Officer II or similar certification or experience. 
  • Residency with a response time within thirty minutes' normal drive time to Pasco Fire Administration.

COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE:The City offers a full benefits package for the employee and all eligible dependents covered at low premiums including:

  • Employee and all eligible dependents covered for low monthly premiums. Medical at $153.70/month, dental at $11.59/month, and vision coverage at $6.54/month.
  • Basic life insurance paid for by the City and employee sponsored supplemental life insurance.
  • 21 days of vacation during the 1st year of employment and 12 days of sick leave which are available for use upon accrual.
  • 10 holidays, plus each employee receives 1 floating holiday each year.
  • Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS), which offers a guaranteed monthly benefit once vesting criteria has been met.
  • In addition to DRS, employees may also contribute to a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, that offers a pre-tax contribution of 4% from the City.
  • Other benefits offered: Comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, Tuition Assistance, Flexible Spending Plan, Long-Term Disability, Aflac, and Flexible Schedule (per department approval).
