Duties: Gathers and carries garbage bags from individual yards or locations along route and throws bags onto truck. Starts hoisting device that rises refuse bin attached to rear of truck. Dumps bags into opening in enclosed truck body. May gather separated recycling materials and dump them into recycling bins on garbage truck. Assist in unloading and cleaning garbage truck at dump site. May pick up loose trash with forks, shovel, or by hand and load into truck. May assist in operation of picker. May deliver garbage bags to individual houses by unloading bags from truck and carrying them to front yard. Must be able to obtain and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications: No educational or prior experience requirements. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather; must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, often while running or jogging; Must possess the visual ability to avoid obstacles and to identify hazardous conditions.
