Duties: Provides law enforcement and protective services for the Municipal Court to ensure public safety and foster general compliance with State laws and City ordinances. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Executes warrant of arrest and/or serves civil process issued out of the Municipal Court, City Attorneys' office, City Prosecutor, City Secretary, City Health Official, Civil Service Commission, or any Municipal entity possessing subpoena power to obtain evidence for court proceedings. Maintains order in a Municipal courtroom and protects Judges, Prosecuting Attorneys, and others from physical violence to ensure courtroom safety and compliance with courtroom procedures. Transports and books into jail all subjects arrested on City of Pasadena warrants from surrounding agencies to ensure safety to citizens and property. Researches warrants/subject by accessing City, State, or Federal records to enable disposition of disputed cases or warrants and ensure all pertinent information is correct and available to proceed accordingly. Makes determination whether or not to incarcerate individuals with class "C" criminal arrest warrants ensuring protection for the public and/or property. Arrest persons observed committing crimes in absence of or with Pasadena Police officers to enforce laws and provide protection to officers. Enforce all City, State, and Federal laws. May be required to make daily runs to the bank and to/from other departments. Provides appropriate courtroom testimony as subpoenaed and applies proper courtroom techniques, rules of evidence, and procedures to ensure safety of citizens and protect the rights of those accused of crimes. Monitor/enforce Court Security requirements. Maintains security for City Hall ensuring the safety of its employees and citizens. Maintains decorum in the courtroom during court proceedings. Remove or restrain unruly subjects out of courtroom. Maintain Police Officer certification. Understand and follow all legal, oral, and written instructions given. Fill out and submit reports. Maintain assigned City vehicle. Must maintain sufficient personal credibility in order to support the validity of their statements in all official matters. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Basic law enforcement certification or higher from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). State of Texas Class C' or higher Operator License. Thorough knowledge of principles and laws of arrest, Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedures PREFFERED: Bilingual (English/Spanish).
