Would you like to positively impact our community andhelp those who served and protected our country? Join the Ontario City Library’s Veterans Resource Center team! The Library’s Veteran Resource Center is seeking volunteers to assist veterans and theirfamiliesconnect to information aboutvarious benefits, services, and available resources.
Volunteers will commit to at least one 3-hourshiftper week for at least 6 months and provide information and referral assistance to veterans and their family members. Volunteers will be trained to greet and conduct walk-in and scheduled appointments with veterans and their family members, referring them to information regardinghealthcare, housing, employment, education, Veterans Affairs claims and benefits and other resources. The ideal volunteer must be patient and empathetic, have good listening skills, and be able to maintain confidentiality and respect personal boundaries.
The Ovitt Family Community Library is located at 215 East C Street and operates Monday through Thursday, 10AM – 9PM, Friday through Saturday 10AM – 6PM, and Sunday 1PM – 4PM. For additional information regarding the Library or the Veterans Resource Center please refer to the City’swebsite.
Provide information and resources to visitors, including contact information to veterans’ organizations.
Staff the Veterans Resource Center desk to receive walk-in appointments.
Receive and return phone calls to the Veterans Resource Center.
Assist in preparing displays and restocking informational resources in the Veterans Resource Center.
Assist in library programs or special events.
Maintain the confidentiality of patron’s personal information.
