JOB SUMMARY The Medical Records Clerk will be responsible for managing patient's health records and billing records. Some of the main duties include reviewing patient accounts to ensure medical records and billing records are completed. The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering, processing, and maintaining patient medical and billing records which includes but is not limited to, data entry, scanning, filing, e-faxing, answering phones, medical records release, and general misc. office duties. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position includes, but is not limited to data entry, scanning, filing, e-faxing, answering phones, medical records release, physician & medical office request, and general office duties.
Ensuring the finalized medical records are organized, accurate and complete.
Direct Communication with law firms to provide medical and billing records as requested.
Creating digital copies of paperwork and storing the records electronically
Processes facility specific HIM mail as applicable.
Safeguarding patient records and ensuring that everyone complies with the HIPAA standards.
Transferring data into the facility's main system database
Direct communication with internal staff to retrieve medical and billing records.
Maintains quality results by following organizational guidelines and standards.
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS
High Schol Diploma or GED
Associate Degree Preferred
Bilingual preferred but not required.
1-3 YRS Experience
Excellent Computer/PC, MS Suite & Outlook Skills Required
Excellent Customer Service & Phone Skills Required
Prior experience in Medical Record distribution
Understanding of medical terminology
Knowledge of HIPAA medical privacy regulations and practices
Experience working with Chartswap or Athena preferred.
EDUCATION
High Schol Diploma or GED
Associate Degree Preferred
KNOWLEDGE SKILS AND ABILITIES
