Approximately 25 hours per week
This position transports passengers by bus to scheduled activities. Also assists in various activities for programs and events as assigned. Reports to the assigned Recreation Supervisor.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Driving Duties: Drives 38-66 passenger bus to transport passengers within the community and occasionally takes day trips out of the county. Has the authority to reprimand unsafe behavior while riding or participating.2. Supervision of Participants: Supervises children at play, ages 5-18 years, while on bus or at program site.3. Vehicle Upkeep: Performs routine safety check of assigned vehicle(s). Reports safety and maintenance issues to supervisor immediately. Sweeps bus and removes trash. 4. Customer Service: Provides a high level of direct customer service to the general public and is courteous at all times. Remains calm in stressful situationsNONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Assists with facility and activity area set up including equipment, decorating, etc. 2. Performs other duties as assigned.Must be able to read, write and follow both oral and written instructions. Six months customer service experience required. Previous bus driving or passenger transportation experience preferred.LICENSES/CERTIFICATESMust possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Class "B" Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Airbrakes certification and passenger endorsement required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to relate well to children 5-18 years of age. Must be able to speak clearly in order to assist the general public. Ability to drive a bus loaded with passengers. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to document time and activities for reporting purposes. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
