The temporary employees support Public Works operations during the peak summer season, typically from April to September.1.Responsible for cleaning, painting and maintaining City owned grounds, streets, facilities and equipment.
2.Operate various mowers, edger and weed eaters.
3.Operate hand and power tools.
4.Surface preparing of metal rails, building surfaces and painting.
5.Water grass areas and planters, hand weeding.
6.Clean wastewater equipment.
7.Drive City truck to collect and transport wastewater samples.
8.Operate vehicles up to 1-ton.
9.Assist with traffic control.
10.Wash and wax City vehicles.
11.Move and handle in excess of 50-pound bags.
12.Follow proper safety instructions.
13.Wash windows and other miscellaneous tasks as required.
14.Possible exposure to obnoxious materials while using required safety gear.

• The purpose of these positions is to augment the public works work force during the busy summer season.
• This position is a temporary summer hire with no guarantee to be re-hired next year.
• City provides employees with coveralls and required safety gear. Employee will provide own steel-toed boots.
• Employees will not be allowed to drive any large pieces of equipment outside the City maintenance facilities and are only allowed to operate vehicles that are 1-ton or smaller.
• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License and a good driving record.
• Must pass a Criminal Background check and a Drivers Abstract check prior to hire.

A combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.Work requires reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, visual acuity, hearing acuity, eye/hand coordination and manipulation skills to operate a computer, telephone and other equipment, as well as the ability to sit or walk for extended periods of time and access all areas of the facility including stairs. Weekend work is required.
