The City government's support for community and economic development makes Northglenn a hub of safe neighborhoods and business activity. The community is connected by the well-planned Greenway Trail System. The over 35 miles of off-street walking and biking paths connect with larger trail systems that lead throughout the Denver metro area. Northglenn is only 15 minutes north of downtown Denver and all of the events and attractions of a major metropolitan city. Go east on Interstate 70 and Denver International Airport is only 30 minutes away. Turn to the west and the majestic Rocky Mountains tower over the landscape and are a mere half hour away by car.

The City of Northglenn, is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing Municipal Services Worker I/II.

Position Highlights:

* Assists in the collection of garbage, trash and refuse on a designated route within the municipality.

* Dumps garbage, trash and refuse from containers into hopper in truck; operates packing mechanism.

* Work involves driving an automated trash truck and assisting in green waste recycling operations.

* The schedule for this position is typically 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

* May assist with various tasks involving other departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a physically demanding position collecting household trash. Work involves driving an automated trash truck and assisting in green waste recycling operations. Work sometimes involves lifting (up to 50 pounds or greater) and physical exertion in all weather conditions. The schedule for this position is typically 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Education and Experience

Requirements include high school diploma (or equivalent), plus six months experience in heavy manual labor work. Previous experience operating an automated trash truck preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Supplemental Information

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and a good driving record at the time of hire.

Must successfully obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver's License (Class B) within six months of hire.

Successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment physical with a drug screen.
