General Statement of Job

Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day coordination, organization and supervision of various activities and services administered within the Parks and Recreation Department.

Minimum Training and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent, preferably supplemented by college level course work in recreation, education, or physical education. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate an automobile, various small hand tools, public address equipment, and a variety of automated office machines, which include a computer, copier, etc. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to forty pounds.

Other Information

Responsible for the supervision of athletic and sports tourism related events sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department that take place in City facilities such as but not limited to the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, Central Park, and J Bryan Floyd Community Center. Responsible for overseeing each facility including but not limited to: opening and closed each facility, setting up for youth and adult sports practices/games, coordinating with event organizers/staff, maintaining facility cleanliness, promoting customer service, maintaining safety of participants and spectators, rendering first aid in cases of minor injuries and other assigned duties. Position requires weekday, weeknight, and weekend work. Reports to the Athletic and Sports Tourism Manager or a designated appointee.
