City of North Miami is Hiring a Recreation Leader II Near Fl 33161, FL
Plans and oversees recreational program activities within the City of North Miami. An employee in this class assists in organizing and supervising a varied program of play and recreational activities at community centers, playgrounds and other recreational facilities. Participants in the activities range from pre-school children through adult groups. Much of the work involves the promotion and stimulation of a desire for recreational activities. The employee works under the immediate supervision of a functional supervisor. Employees assigned to this class exercise immediate supervision over subordinate recreation leaders.
Serves as leader of one of the City's community recreation areas with responsibility for planning and operation of a full program;
Assists in the planning and organizing of recreational activities;
Plans, organizes and supervises assigned phases of recreation programs;
Coaches, officiates or instructs in special activities;
Organizes special programs;
Assists in organizing and conducting competitions, displays and other group activities.
Often carries heavy equipment up and down stairs depending upon type of program activity involved;
Climbing, running, jumping and bending;
Works outdoors in varying weather conditions;
Drives bus or van to transport program participants.
Associates degree plus considerable experience in one or more phases of a community recreational program; Or An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Good knowledge of sports, games and recreation activities appropriate for all ages;
Good knowledge of community recreational work;
Good knowledge of one or more phases or functions of such work;
Good knowledge of rules and techniques of common sports and games;
Ability to instruct and coach in an assigned sport or activity;
Ability to carry on an activity in a broad phase of the program;
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple program tasks;
Ability to cooperate with public and private groups and agencies and the general public;
Ability to develop and maintain communication and effective relationships with co-workers and with activity participants;
Ability to communicate and act effectively with co-workers, supervisors, users and participants, and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
