Salary: $19.48 - $35.31 per hour (Pay range dependent on certification & experience, Non-Exempt)

Job Description

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Any experience which provides the required knowledge and skills.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record. Wastewater Operator Certification, Class D from Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.

Knowledge: Pumps, motors, and valves. Basic laboratory testing procedures and proper sampling techniques. EPA and state regulations. Basic knowledge of computer keyboarding, computer software, and Windows operating system. Basic lawn care and equipment.

Skills: Following oral and written instructions. Using hand tools and repairing equipment. Recognizing operating problems and assessing the correct responses. Computing basic mathematical equations. Running tests and handling potentially hazardous chemical compounds. Effective interpersonal skills in communicating with co-workers and the general public.

Essential Functions: Under the direct supervision of Utilities Supervisor or designed representative, collects samples and completes required analysis. Checks pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and other related lab parameters. Makes hourly rounds, checks all plant equipment for proper operations and cleans pumps, if needed. Checks gauges and gas pressures and makes adjustments, if necessary. Checks equipment meters and completes log during shift. Checks digesters’ pressures and temperatures for proper operation. Performs data entry into Operator 10 database and LIMS database. Performs lab analysis on activated sludge samples. Performs microbiological examination. Conducts process control calculations and adjustments. Performs other lab analysis as directed by Utilities Supervisor and/or Senior Lab Technician. Paints, sands and inspects equipment. Performs grounds maintenance which includes mowing and watering lawns. Performs housekeeping duties. Relieves other operators, if needed. Performs other related duties as required.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Substantial amount of physical effort required to climb/descend stairs and ladders or constant standing and walking. Ability to lift and carry heavy (50-75 lb.) materials occasionally. Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, noise, and noxious fumes and odors. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.
