Job Description

This job classification has been designated as a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.

JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of tasks in the custodian care and maintenance of City buildings.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Essential Functions:

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, dusts, shampoos, steam cleans, strips, waxes, polishes, and buffs floors, carpets, and furniture, etc.
• Take trash, and recyclables to the dumpster outside and reline cans with liners.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; cleans spills; cleans drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures, etc.
• Washes windows, walls, metal and woodwork.
• Orders cleaning supplies, and performs general maintenance duties as required.

Examples of Other Major Responsibilities: Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Knowledge: Cleaning materials, methods, and procedures.

Skills: Operating equipment used in cleaning, waxing, and stripping floors. Oral communication.

Mental and Physical Abilities:

• Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) cleaning supplies and/or equipment.
• Ability to work independently.

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure of up to 80% of work time to dirt, dust, noise, noxious fumes and odors, and extreme temperatures.
