City of Noblesville is Hiring an Utilities Laborer (Temporary) Near Noblesville, IN

This temporary position is scheduled to start on or after May 1st and ends on or before October 31st, up to 40 hours per week.  
Incumbent serves as Temporary Laborer for the Wastewater Utility Department, responsible for assisting in maintaining the buildings and grounds as assigned. This temporary position is of limited duration for the purpose of maintaining the utility department.
 

Assists with the maintenance of buildings and grounds, including mowing, removing weeds, clearing brush, cleaning, and removing trash.

Operates riding and power mowers, trimmers, weed-trimmers, rakes, and various pieces of equipment.

Working knowledge of and ability to properly operate mowers, trimmers, and weed-trimmers.

Ability to physically perform assigned duties, including standing/walking for long periods, walking on uneven terrain, lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, shoveling, raking, pushing/pulling objects, reaching, bending, handling/grasping/fingering objects.

Ability to work with others in a team environment, work rapidly for long periods and understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, other City departments and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.

Possession of a valid Indiana driver's license, a demonstrated safe driving record, and must remain insurable through the City of Noblesville's liability insurance carrier. (Refer to the Civilian Personnel Policy for additional information.)

Incumbent maintains contact with co-workers and occasionally with the public for the purpose of exchanging information.

Incumbent reports directly to Chief Operators.

Incumbent's duties may involve continuous physical exertion, such as, standing/walking for long periods, walking on uneven terrain, lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, shoveling, raking, pushing/pulling objects, reaching, bending, handling/grasping /fingering objects. Prolonged intense physical strain is not associated with normal duties.

Incumbent performs a majority of duties outdoors, and is frequently exposed to normal hazards associated with maintaining the Wastewater Utility Department buildings and grounds, such as machinery, traffic, noise, grease, dirt, dust, vehicle fumes, blood borne pathogens and other infectious materials, extreme temperatures and inclement weather. Safety precautions must be followed at all times to avoid injury to self and others.

This position is identified as having occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
