The Newton Police Department Code Enforcement Division is now accepting applications for a part-time seasonal nuisance code enforcement inspector and offering a competitive hourly wage and flexible hours.
Under the supervision of the code enforcement division supervisor, the seasonal nuisance code enforcement inspector supports the police department's community service officers with enforcement of city codes related to private property upkeep, assists with the processing of violation notices, assists with property abatements by contractors, performs related clerical work, assists customers with nuisance questions and performs other related duties as required.
The seasonal nuisance code enforcement inspector works up to 24 hours a week Monday through Friday during the summer season. Hours may vary due to weather and staffing needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
WORKING CONDITIONS
A combination of indoor and outdoor work. Outdoor work includes working in adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat and cold. Indoor work includes normal office environment conditions.
ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Must be at least 18 years of age with successful completion of high school or GED. Experience with an office setting with computer skills, customer service and/or government is preferred.
