This position is responsible for Warehouse operations and administrative support. Works under the general supervision of the Director of Utilities and Public Works. 

 

What you will do in this amazing warehouse/inventory rock star role!

  • Keeps the mission, vision, and core values of the City of Newberry at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objective, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
  • Maintain records, research, compose and produce reports, documents, correspondence, and other materials as assigned.
  • Retrieve data and perform analysis to generate reports for Supervisor.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage inventory system for Department.
  • Coordinate and maintain records and files. Create and keep detailed inventory reports of all merchandise entering or exiting the warehouse.
  • Prepare orders and processes order requests.
  • Accept deliveries, verify orders, inventory, and stock warehouse items. Receive and document merchandise for delivery or return.
  • Support departmental audits.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Manage and perform proper housekeeping throughout the warehouse.
  • Collect merchandise and safely transport materials to designate areas.
  • Identify any missing, lost, or damaged materials and immediately notify Supervisor.
  • Ensure all the merchandise is safely and securely packed, labeled, and organized.
  • Unload trucks, check in products, sort items according to organizational standards, and lift heavy objects.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma.
  • A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

Physical Requirements/ Working & Environmental Conditions

  • Indoor and outdoor working environment (50/50) with occasional travel for meetings or training.
  • Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
  • Sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
  • Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: manual dexterity, mental acuity, repetitive motion, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
  • Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 85lbs. Specific vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that may be adverse and extreme (heat, humidity, cold, rain, etc.). The employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, uneven surfaces, heights, and stressful situations. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Reasonable accommodation will be made in accordance with existing ADA requirements for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.
