About Us:
The city of New Orleans is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to jour our Purchasing Division as a Purchasing Specialist . The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring timely acquisition of goods and services, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. You will play a key role in negotiating with suppliers, analyzing market trends, and contributing to cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers.
- Process purchase requisitions and place orders in accordance with company policies
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages and overstock
- Analyze costs and perform market research to stay informed about industry trends.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices
- Knowledge of public procurement laws and regulations is a plus.
