City of New Orleans is Hiring a Purchasing Specialist Near Orleans, LA

About Us:

The city of New Orleans is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to jour our Purchasing Division as a Purchasing Specialist . The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring timely acquisition of goods and services, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. You will play a key role in negotiating with suppliers, analyzing market trends, and contributing to cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers.
  • Process purchase requisitions and place orders in accordance with company policies
  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages and overstock
  • Analyze costs and perform market research to stay informed about industry trends.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices
  • Knowledge of public procurement laws and regulations is a plus.
