City of Monroe (NC) is Hiring a Public Works O&M Site Lead Near Monroe, WA

Provide job site supervision while performing the installation and maintenance of the City's streets, water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and facilities systems as directed. Maintain rights-of-way, city property, facilities, pavement markings, and traffic control devices. May also assist with various other Public Works related tasks as directed. 
  • Direct and perform work as a team member of crews assigned job duties associated with maintaining the city’s utility systems. Typical activities may include the installation and maintenance of water services, sanitary side sewers, catch basins, pipe laying, asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalks and various building maintenance activities. 
  • Operate equipment such as backhoe loaders, street sweepers, vactor truck, snow/ice control equipment, etc. If qualified, individual will operate excavator type heavy machinery and dump trucks.
  • Assist the O&M Supervisor in the establishment of work objectives and in the daily scheduling of work crews. 
  • Act as the on-site crew lead on daily scheduled work and ensure proper equipment and safety precautions are being taken as needed.
  • Assist the O&M Supervisor in developing maintenance priorities based upon field conditions observed during daily work.
  • Work with the public handling customer inquiries as it pertains to the work being performed.
  • Consult with O&M Supervisor and Manager in recognizing superior job performance, and when undesirable trends in performance are affecting productivity in a manner that is consistent with established city policy.
  • Assist in evaluation of employee performance as requested. 
  • Display initiative to resolve problems and capitalize on opportunities in the job and maintain a job site environment supporting fair and equal treatment of employees within Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines.
  • Make recommendations and schedule the use of equipment and the purchasing of supplies so that operational productivity is kept at an optimal level.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment.
  • Report to work ready to perform your job effectively and efficiently. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the construction or maintenance of underground utilities, streets, building maintenance.
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing preparation, process and job site supervision for construction and maintenance activities.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain within two years of hire a valid Washington State Class “A” CDL.
  •  Must possess or have the ability to obtain within two years of hire a Group I Water Distribution Management “WDM” certificate, and/or certified erosion and sediment control “CESCL” certification .
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
