City of Missouri City is Hiring a Recreation Superintendent Near MISSOURI CITY, TX

This is a full-time (Senior-Level Professional Staff) position in the Parks and Recreation Department. An individual in this position will be responsible for managing recreational services and facilities activities. Reports to Director of Parks and Recreation

  • Direct the work of professional recreation personnel engaged in planning, organizing, promoting, developing, coordinating, and supervising recreation programs and events in Missouri City. Supervise personnel, maintain attendance records; assign schedules and work duties; conduct staff meetings; solicit recommendations from personnel for improvements in services offered; provide guidance with program development reports; perform hiring functions, training and conduct performance evaluations. 
  • Manage the division budget; research and recommend large purchase items; maintain event and program budgets; review and reconcile credit card purchases; prepare annual operating budget recommendations for the division. 
  • Develop and oversee cash management programs and manage fee schedules set by ordinances; review facility rentals; develop and manage department revenues and cost recovery program; review cash flow reports; approve refund for activities, facilities and events. 
  • Oversee the operations, programming, capital improvement and maintenance of the Recreation and Tennis Center and Community Center; train and oversee the work of Recreation Facility Managers. 
  • Create, develop and approve layouts of activity programs and oversee distribution program promotional material; coordinate with other City Departments for program development, operation, and marketing; guide recreation staff in program development; manage department customer service program. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence through the creation and development of policies, procedures, plans, and rules for division best practices.
  • Develop division goals and objectives that contribute to the overall mission of the Parks and Recreation Department; update and oversee the implementation of the Recreation Program Plan including program development and outreach. 
  • Assist in formulating long and short-range recreation plans; evaluate and identify present and future community needs; review and evaluate existing programs, plan and implement new programs, and review status of maintenance and facility operation. 
  • Prepare, submit and analyze various records and reports including program reports, invoices, attendance reports, performance evaluations, bid specifications, purchase orders, grant applications, budget documents, revenue reports, and annual reports.
  • Obtain all required NIMS/ICS training certificates in support of Emergency Operations Center (EOC). This includes serving on shift 1 and/or 2 as assigned during an emergency event.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in parks and recreation, sport management, or a closely related field and a minimum of three (3) years relevant professional experience are required. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.

The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
