City of Miami Beach is Hiring a Tradesworker I (Facilities Maintenance Worker) Near Miami, FL

The Tradesworker I performs a wide range of general and semi-skilled in support of preventative maintenance, general maintenance and repair activities on City structures, grounds/beaches, systems and equipment. Assists skilled trades worker on more complex projects as determined by supervisor. Completes assigned work independently or by assisting skilled trades worker as directed by supervisor or skilled trades worker.
  • Maintenance. Assists and performs semiskilled maintenance tasks in connection with the installation, maintenance, and repair of City structures, equipment, systems, grounds, and beach areas.
  • Construction. Assists and performs semiskilled construction tasks in connection with the installation, maintenance, and repair of City structures, equipment, systems, grounds, and beach areas.
  • Inspections. Performs routine, repetitive inspections necessary for the efficient and effective operation of City structures, equipment, systems, grounds, and beach areas.
  • FF&E. Assists and performs semiskilled tasks in connection with the construction, installation, maintenance and relocation of furniture, fixtures and equipment.
  • May perform due diligence in connection with: receiving, storage and distribution of materials, verification against purchase orders and work orders to ensure internal controls and safekeeping of City expenditures and resources.
  • Maintains assigned areas in clean and orderly conditions. Maintains assigned vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition and safeguarding City assets.
  • Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
  • Inspect properties and communicate with management regarding proper grounds keeping and general cleanup and maintenance
  • Perform general grounds keeping on a daily basis; inspect outside of Distribution Center areas, insure disposal areas are kept clean and in a safe condition.
  • Maintains accurate records of work orders and preventative maintenance schedules. Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
  • May perform weekly safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for the patrons of the facility and to eliminate all hazards.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • May be called to respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • One (1) year experience as a semi-skilled worker in one or more of the basic building maintenance trades and/or one year experience in a warehouse distribution operation.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • One (1) year of related employment in the building maintenance.
Physical Requirements:
  • Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, and kneeling.
  • Some crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, pushing, and pulling.

  • Reports to work as directed during an emergency as an essential employee of the City of Miami Beach.
