Salary: $21.24/hr. minimum - $26.02/hr. midpoint (Depending on qualifications) To provide a variety of solid waste commercial and industrial collection services by transferring waste materials using heavy equipment; to provide oversight and technical expertise in equipment operation; and to participate in a wide variety of solid waste maintenance activities.
SUPERVISIONGeneral supervision will be provided by the Commercial Solid Waste Assistant Manager and Commercial Solid Waste Supervisors.All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
Operate and maintain a variety of heavy and highly complex equipment including tractor trailers, rollers, large loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, rubber tire loader, water truck, rotor boom, commercial front load, roll off, transfer truck, twenty (20) yard solid waste truck and other similar equipment and machinery in excavating, filling, compacting and moving refuse and other materials. Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.
Perform minor repairs on assigned equipment including changing tires; report the need for major repairs; record all assigned equipment with broken parts and difficulties; distribute information to appropriate division staff member.
Inspect and restore equipment fluid levels including oil, fuel, water and transmission fluid; verify operational gauges and tires; lubricate equipment as needed; service and adjust as necessary.
Keep abreast of current laws, rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of equipment.
Clean assigned equipment and related parts, office and lounge areas as required.
Answer questions and provide information to the public as necessary.
EDUCATIONEducation or training which provides the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
EXPERIENCEThree years of increasingly responsible experience operating large (over 26,001 GVW) trucks or similar vehicles
andOne-year operating equipment such as a rubber tire loader, transfer truck and/or twenty (20) yard solid waste truck.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATESMust possess a valid
Class B-CDL driver’s license with air brake endorsement. WORK SCHEDULE- Monday - Tuesday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Friday - Saturday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Days off: Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday
- Overtime as needed.
