ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Works under the direction of an assigned supervisor responsible for all aspects
of a safe, educational and fun aquatic experience at their assigned location. Recruits, hires aquatic staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors and customer service representatives. Supports and assists Aquatics Manager with overseeing part time employees. Coordinates schedules of all staff at Aquatic Center. Develops and implements high quality programming and seasonal events, including (but not limited to) progressive swim lessons and swim team. Maintains a clean facility, participating in preventative and responsive maintenance. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and daily pool operations and chemical levels in accordance with all state and local health and safety regulations.Assists Aquatics Manager with inventory maintenance including chemicals, uniforms, training materials. Coordinates and offers swim team opportunities for youth. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Facilitates staff in-services programs and maintain activity schedules. Assists with outdoor pool season preparation as needed. Oversees progressive swim lesson program for the community and offers a swim team opportunity for youth. Coordinates aquatics special events annually. Submits and coordinates work orders through General Services. Maintains inventory and recommends purchases as necessary. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer and a telephone. Requires the ability to lift, pull and move up to 50 pounds, and able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed primarily in a warm to hot, and humid environment. May be assigned to an indoor or outdoor pool.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Public Administration or a related field and two (2) years’ experience in coordinating wellness and fitness activities; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain certification within 90 days, as Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), and American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED for the Professional Rescuer as a condition of continued employment.
