The general purpose of Operator I is to take care of city street rights of way, parks and playgrounds, green spaces and areas around City Departments.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Mow, weed eating, weeding, blow leaves, pick-up papers off road sides, green spaces, parks etc., trim limbs, shrubs, plant grass flowers, trees and edge city property.
Repair playground equipment, paint or repair park benches, guardrails, fences, building maintenance and other equipment or structures. Assist Crew foreman with street signs, install and maintain street sign traffic control devices, fix curbs, gutters, sidewalks, operate paint striper – marking street surfaces, sidewalk and parking lots.
Work on street construction and maintenance shoveling asphalt, concrete, removing ice, snow, salting and sanding streets. Operate and perform minor maintenance on motor driven equipment (oil changes, preventative maintenance, sharpen blades, grease and check fluids) and heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under varying weather conditions. Maintain good public relations for other members of the crew while working around equipment, facilities and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: GED or high school diploma; and 2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
