The inspection clerk will be responsible for helping the water clerk and communicating with construction managers, architects, and the public concerning permits and business licenses.
Tasks are:
Greeting and assisting customers coming into the office, answering the telephone, taking requests for inspections, responsible for issuing permits, issuing business licenses, mailing out business license renewals, being a floater in the office, documenting inspection requests, maintaining files and running reports when requested by the building inspector. Processes standard forms and documents related to building inspections; provides receipts and records payments; enters data into building inspection programs.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of fundamental office administration and accounting principles and standards, specific department rules and regulations, codes, and standards. Skill in communicating in both oral and written form. Skills in keeping accurate and timely data recording in water and inspection systems. Skill in working under deadlines and establishing a courteous relationship with customers.
Qualifications:
The equivalent of a High School Diploma and experience in clerical, customer service, data entry, or a related field. Must have 3 years of experience. The person must be present and have punctual attendance.
