Produces water and sanitary sewer design; review of utility construction; review of water modeling software and calculations; review of sanitary ewer capacity calculation; coordination of CIP projects and reviews with the Utility Department.
Plans programs and implements complete design and construction processes. Projects involve water supply and sewage collection, water and sewage pumping, water storage tanks, water treatment infrastructure and processes, water transmission and distribution mains, Sewer collection systems, Inflow and Infiltration rehabilitation projects.
Provides oversight of the review, processes, of all projects to ensure that established codes, standards, policies, and best engineering practices are followed in the design and construction of all water and sewer systems. Helps facilitate successful design and construction of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects
Assists City staff in optimizing operational programs and treatment options to meet departmental goals.
Serves as a project and/or construction manager for multi-discipline projects, designed by in-house staff or consultants, of ranging complexity, type and scope; ensures delivery within defined objectives, priorities, budgets, and deadlines. Project Management experience in managing design and construction meetings and contracts; develops project scopes, cost estimates, biddable plans and specifications, and schedules for City Projects.
Experienced in handling challenging issues such as utility conflict resolution and relocations; may supervise department employees, which involves such duties as instructing, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, appraising employee performance, recommending promotions, discipline, termination and salary increases.

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering and five years of progressively responsible related experience. A combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license Must possess a license as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.Full Time
