City of Maitland is Hiring a PROJECT COORDINATOR Near Maitland, FL

The job description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee and is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change.
Performs specialized technical and administrative work involving the coordination and inspection of development in the City, and coordinating public improvements, working with complex factors. Works under the general direction of the Public Works Director, or assigned designee.
This position is considered an emergency/disaster position. During emergency conditions, all City employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation, which requires that the employee be ready, willing, and able to report to work during emergencies and/or disasters of any kind, notwithstanding any other commitments the employee may have and be able perform emergency services duties, as assigned.Administer site improvements approved by the City through its land development regulations. Inspect and enforce site improvements that may include zoning code, landscape code and other relevant site requirements in the City’s land development regulations.
Conduct inspections for compliance of the development process, to include but not limited to lot clearing, tree protection, stormwater systems, grading, sidewalks, parking lots, lighting and landscaping. Review construction and site plans, and interpret plans in field.
Prepare monitoring reports, change requests, correspondence and other reports related to the development process.
Process requests for changes and revisions to approved development plans, under the supervision assigned personnel.
Responsible for receiving, routing and tracking all correspondence during construction and after completion of approved developments. Review all changes requests for consistency with approved plan and regulations. Coordinate with various departments to ensure code compliance.
Develop ordinances, special reports, and independent studies that are necessary to develop and implement the land development regulations for site improvements.
Review and coordinate the City’s Capital Improvement Program (C.I.P.), if applicable, to ensure projects are phased and funded consistent with current construction practices and approved plans.
Schedule and coordinate the design and construction of approved programs. Assist in developing construction documents and specifications for municipal projects, and solicit and compile construction cost estimates.
Coordinate material purchasing for municipal capital projects. Prepare and advertise RFPs, Scopes of Services, etc., to facilitate programs, when requested.
Inspect and enforce site improvements to ensure compliance with approved plans. Prepare inspection reports and all other required reports related to site improvement programs. Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance.
Assists the City Engineer in application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering.
Research records, maps and other data to obtain such typical engineering data as location of sewer pipes, water mains, hydrants, rights-of-way, drainage structures, and zoning district designations or special property assessments.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Attend meetings as required.
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned. Performs all other duties as assigned.Thorough knowledge of building, general construction practices, landscape materials and methods of installation. Working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, masonry, mechanical, or plumbing work, and skill in applying knowledge of zoning and land use development; general knowledge of zoning regulations; building administration; considerable knowledge of manual and computerized record keeping systems.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and owners. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employee, other departments and the general public. Ability to work under stressful conditions and with frequent interruptions.Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a closely related field. Five to seven years’ experience involving construction management or site inspection; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in an applicable technical environment.
Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Must also possess the National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-700 within 30 days of employment and the ICS-100 within 90 days of employment. There may be additional NIMS required, which will be scheduled by your Supervisor.
