City of Lewiston is Hiring a Public Works Electrician Near Lewiston, ID

Hiring Range is between $26.42 to $30.31 per hour.
Under the direction of the Utility Operations Supervisor, perform skilled electrician work installing, altering, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures for the wastewater, water, traffic, and other City owned assets. Maintain the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the Wastewater and Water Divisions. Perform preventive equipment, grounds, and building maintenance duties and other related work as assigned or required.Perform journey level electrical construction, maintenance, and repair work on City-owned buildings, equipment and other facilities; perform semi-skilled to skilled maintenance duties in associated trades outside of electrical repair. 
 
Maintain and repair wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; diagnose, maintain, repair and replace plant electrical equipment including band screens, grit vortexes, clarifiers, belt press dewatering units, dissolved air flotation thickener, gravity thickener, digesters, contact chlorination basins, UV disinfection units, standby generators, transfer switches, transformers, breakers, relays, drives, blowers, pumps, motors, and heating and cooling equipment; interpret equipment condition and readiness and advise staff of corrective action needed.
 
Work from blueprints, schematics, and manuals to install, trouble shoot and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, motors, switches, alarm systems, apparatus and control equipment. Maintain, fabricate, install, and tests new and existing equipment. 
 
Maintain the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, including coordinating work with maintenance staff, IT staff, outside contractors and service providers. 
 
Maintain and test alarm systems, communication system electronics, and all emergency-level equipment related to the WWTP. 
 
Implementation of proper procedures and techniques for the testing, installation, programming, operation and maintenance of traffic control signals.
 
Utilize a computerized asset and maintenance management system.
 
Maintain a computerized spare parts inventory system. 
 
Assist other plant staff in technical and/or labor intensive projects.
 
Attend work on a regular and dependable basis. 
 
Interact in a professional and respectful manner with city staff and the public.
 
Safely load and unload materials and supplies for treatment plant operation.
 
Perform related duties as assigned.Graduation from high school or GED, and four (4) years experience as a Journeyman electrician with at least two (2) years experience in industrial system installation, maintenance, or control. Must possess a State of Idaho Journeyman Electrician License. Must possess a valid Drivers License.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Complex electrical systems and precautions up to, and including 480 volt, 3 phase.
Electronics and instrumentation control.
Variable frequency drives.
Electric motor powered equipment including pumps, blowers, and compressors.
Maintenance and repair of automated level, flow, pressure, and motor speed instrumentation and control, including integration in a SCADA system.
Hand and power tools common to the utility maintenance and electrician trades.
Proper material handling and storage techniques.
Mechanical and piping systems including classification of pipe, joints, valves, traps, gauges, and meters.
Methods and precautions of handling, storing, and labeling industrial chemicals, including applicable Right-to-Know Laws.
Record-keeping techniques, including inventory control.
Operation of a computer terminal and various software programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and specialized maintenance and inventory management software.
Health and safety regulations.

Operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks.
Maintain and repair a variety of plant pumping, treatment, and control equipment at a skilled level.
Read and understand maintenance and repair technical manuals, as well as specifications and plan sheets.
Read, interpret, and properly respond to equipment operational abnormalities and emergencies.
Complete accurate written and/or electronic maintenance records, reports, and logs.
Meet defined project schedules and time lines.
Operate a variety of hand tools, machinery, vehicles, and equipment common to the electrician trade and utility industry.
Perform plant maintenance and housekeeping work.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Effectively communicate information, instructions, and assignments either orally or in writing, and perform delegated work assignments without close supervision.
Properly use personal protective equipment required for certain work areas.
Work safely and in compliance with federal and state laws, as well as city and department policies.
Respond to off-hour and emergency callouts.
Promote communication and respect with all internal and external customers.Wastewater Treatment Plant, Pump Stations, and signal cabinet work environments are subject to adverse weather conditions and driving to conduct work.Physical activities required include dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment, tools and gauges, working on, over, and under equipment, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, walking over metal grates and wet floors, climbing stairs and ladders, bending at the waist, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, pulling, pushing and carrying, and speaking to exchange information.Incumbents are exposed to extreme temperatures, toxic gases, fumes and chemicals, exposure to poisonous and caustic chemicals, working in confined or restrictive work chambers and spaces, electrical shocks, and working on ladders above and below ground level.
